The WhatsApp Business Platform is what automation tools connect to. It supports AI replies, bookings, approved message templates and integrations. It needs a number that isn't active in the app.
What it costs
Meta charges per business message on the platform, and prices depend on the message type and country. Meta has announced further changes from October 2026, so check the current rates before you budget.
Which to choose
If you get only a few messages a day, the app may be enough. If you're missing messages, chasing no-shows or answering the same questions repeatedly, the platform with automation usually pays for itself.
